What is Angiosperm?

Image
Angiosperm: A vascular plant where fruit and flower formation take place and seed is covered within the fruit is called angiosperm. Such as Oryza sativa, Zea mays. Fig: Angiosperm flower Characteristics of Angiosperm: 1. Saprophytic plant and flowery. 2. The saprophyte is differentiated into root, stem, and leaf. 3. The vascular system has true vessel and companion cells in the phloem. 4. The stamens(microsporophyll) and the carpels(megasporophyll) are arranged into a structure called flower. 5. One microsporophyll contains 4 pollen sec(microsporangia). 6. The ovules are enclosed in the ovary at the base of the megasporophyll. 7. Angiosperm are heterosporous i.e.produce two kinds of spores, microspores(pollen grains) and megaspores(embryo sec). 8. A single functional megaspore is permanently retained within the nucellus. 9. The sporophytes are diploid. 10. Spore develop and produce two types of gametophyte, male gametophyte, and female gametophyte. 11. Male gametophyte produces a polle

Origin And Phylogeny of Angiosperm

Angiosperm: Vascular Plant Where fruit and flower formation takes place and seen id covered within the fruit is called angiosperm. Such as Oryza   sativa, Zea mays. Origin of Angiosperm: According to Bentham and hooker angiosperm originated from the evolution of Bennettitales order of gymnosperms  flat. Flowering plant Originated from  Bennettitales  bi-sexual flower. The bi-sexual flowers are small and bear three distinct floral parts. First spirally arranged bracts. Secondly, the whorl of the microsporophyll is female parts, ovule. The Ranalis order might have been evolved by the gradual transformation of foliaceous bract into perianth, microsporophyll into a male part, and megasporophylls into a female part, spontaneously further developing into gynoecium.

What is Description, Identification, Nomenclature, And Classification? or, The four fundamental component of taxonomy.

Description, Identification, Nomenclature, and classification are the four main components of plant taxonomy. Basically, these four-component are the main function of taxonomy. Description The description is the orderly recording of the maximum possible characters of a taxon, individual plant, plant part or object. Identification Identification is the determination of similarities or dissimilarities between the two-element, under-identification we make a direct comparison of the characteristic features of a specimen with those present in the already existing keys for identification. Nomenclature Nomenclature is a simple system under which individual taxonomic groups of plants are scientifically named. Classification Classification is the placing of the plant ( or a group of plants) in groups or categories according to the particular plant or sequence and in conformity with a nomenclature system. Again classification is the arrangement of botanical groups with definite circumscriptions

Taxonomy and Plant Taxonomy

Taxonomy "A branch of science that encompasses the description, identification, nomenclature, and classification of organisms." The word taxonomy is derived from two Greek words taxis which means arrangement and nomos means rules and regulations, laws, principals. So the word taxonomy means "The arrangement of rules and regulations" or "The lawful arrangement". The taxon is the singular form of taxa. Plant Taxonomy Taxonomy means The arrangement of rules and regulations or the lawful arrangement. So that makes the meaning of  Plant Taxonomy "The lawful arrangement of classifying plant." the word plant taxonomy was first used by A.P.De Candolle in 1813, in his book " Théorie élémentaire de la Botanique". Andrew Sugden in the 1986 edition of Longman's illustrated dictionary of Botany defines taxonomy as the science of classification and relationship of organisms.
